New Field Season in Iran

After three and a half years of break the Iranian-German team could restart the work in Douzlakh Salt mine again. As in Douzlakh salt mining took place over 2500 years the team plans to research on synchronous mining and settlement structures particularly from the Achaemenid, the Sassanid and the Middle Islamic (Seljuq and Ilkhanid) period. In the mine, a new trench was opened by the team around A. Aali, T. Stöllner, N. Boenke and K. Kosczinski: The excavation started to uncover the northern part of the central mining hall by cleaning the undestroyed mining wall. Nearby parts of mummy 6 were discovered in 2010.
